The Old Course
St Andrews
The links that shaped the game: double greens, hidden bunkers and the walk home over the Swilcan Bridge.

‘New’ since 1895: a fine, traditional links running alongside the Old.
The links at St Andrews
Old Tom Morris laid out the New Course in the 1890s, when demand for the Old was already outgrowing supply. It runs alongside its famous neighbour over the same kind of ground, and plenty of local golfers will tell you it is the sterner test of the two.
Expect tight lies, gorse and firm, true greens: classic out-and-back links golf. It is an excellent round in its own right and a sensible part of any St Andrews plan.

Tee times are booked through the St Andrews Links Trust and are generally easier to secure than on the Old Course.
Visitor policies, handicap requirements and tee-time procedures are set by each club and can change. We confirm the current position for your dates and never assume or guarantee access.
