Carnoustie Championship

Across the Tay from St Andrews and widely regarded as the sternest Open venue, finished by the Barry Burn.

Carnoustie’s Championship course, Angus

Carnoustie has a reputation as the toughest course on the Open rota, and on a windy day it earns it. The Championship course is long and relentless, with bunkers exactly where you would like to land and burns weaving through the closing holes.

It has produced some of The Open's most memorable moments, from Ben Hogan's victory in 1953 to the extraordinary finish of 1999, when the Barry Burn decided the championship.

Playing as a visitor

Tee times for the Championship course are managed by Carnoustie Golf Links, and a handicap certificate is required. The Burnside and Buddon Links courses make good second rounds.

Visitor policies, handicap requirements and tee-time procedures are set by each club and can change. We confirm the current position for your dates and never assume or guarantee access.
